WHAT TO EAT FOR GLOWING SKIN

There’s a reason we’re all about making you feel beautiful, inside and out. Because as much as the right skincare regime for your skin does wonders for giving you radiance, it’s also important to make sure your diet is full of nutrient-rich food to get the best results! Here’s a few things to keep in mind when you’re planning your meals.

What to reach for:

Fats from sources like oily fish, avocado, nuts and seeds help to moisturise your skin from within, keeping cells healthy. Some nuts and seeds like cashews, pumpkin seeds and pecans also come with the added benefits of being high in zinc, which is thought to help battle blemishes.

Getting a wide variety of fruits and vegetables into your diet is always a good thing for your health in general but your skin will be pretty happy about it, too. Ones rich in Vitamin C like strawberries, kiwis and peppers help to support collagen production. Plus, red fruits and vegetables like tomatoes contain lycopene, which works alongside your daily sunscreen to help protect your skin against UV damage.

Oh, and technically not a food… but water is a non-negotiable when it comes to great skin. Keep your bottle topped up and seek out fruits and veggies with a high water content like melon and cucumber.

What to avoid…

Okay, don’t @ us but there’s a few things you *might* want to cut down on if glow is your goal. It won’t surprise you to hear this but sugar is the main one. It can have an ageing effect on skin and having too much of it in the body can damage cells and dent your collagen production abilities.

The same applies to alcohol which is not only a big source of sugar but can also increase the secretion of stress hormone cortisol, too.

Lastly, trans fats that can be found in processed foods like ready meals can compete with the healthier fats in your body, slowing down circulation and blood flood to the skin. These foods are also likely to be high in salt which can dehydrate you (and deprive you of that glow!)
